I don't mean websites. I mean people who actually match you w another. (Think "Millionaire Matchmaker" show but not necessarily for people who are millionaires.)
Please share your experiences or those of people you know.
I'm exhausted and overwhelmed w all the online dating sites.
I looked into one such service that caters towards matching Silicon Valley types with a lot of money. Needless to say, I do not fall under this category and quickly got turned off. Both women and men were "high class" with major accomplishments and $$$. There was a lot of pedigree involved as well. This is my skewed opinion. PM me if you need the name, but it is only Bay Area based.
Unless your situation (high profile job, etc...) prevents you from using online dating, I would not recommend professional match maker services. As far as their service goes, if you fall into a fairly conventional box (large metro area, 30-50, demographic typical for the area, not obese, non smoker, goals typical for you age and social status, etc..) they can be of successful. But if you don't fall into a fairly conventional box, they are not likely to be successful matching you with anyone that meets your criteria... e.g. you are a 50 y/o man and want to date women 35-40, because women 35-40 that are also paying for the service do not want to date a 50 y/o man.

Thanks in advance!
Personally, I think if you have to pay someone to do that, there are some serious things about yourself that you need to change. Get in shape, get your stuff together, get better social skills, etc.

It's a legit alternative to OLD. It's used especially by high-end execs and other professionals who don't want to wade through all the plebes on the usual OLD sites. It can be an effective short-cut and time-saver, but the clients pay for that, of course.

I agree with you on that.
I tried it (women are free) but couldn't get paired up bec I was too tall for 99% of the men and the remaining 1% was 20 years older and declined me without even seeing my picture because I have a tattoo on my stomach (one of his deal breakers and that overeager matchmaker told him right away).
I think it is worth looking into that option but I would only pay if I were a man if there is a success and I find a partner.
No, the others were so short - that's why they might have needed a professional service IMO.
Or at least that's why I need professional service
And since they used that professional service, they didn't make any compromises on their requirements, which I totally understand. If I pay alot of $$$ for it, it better be the way I prefer it.
I found it a bit scary and unprofessional that the matchmaker did no background check on me.

As the above implies, "the fairly conventional box" is heavily contingent upon local area, and presumably the matchmaking service is also local. If it's going to match two white-collar middle-aged career-oriented people, it would be risibly unfair for one of them to relocate. The same goes for persons of unconventional tastes and values (again, for the area); for instance, atheists/agnostics, the child-free, and so forth. In an area where these people are rare, the effectiveness of the matchmaking service will be limited.
My impression is that a matchmaking service is useful in cutting through the dross and clutter of online dating. It can help in conveying a more photogenic and appealing persona, than what's possible in conventional online dating, in the same sense that a professional real-estate agent can improve the selling-prospects of a house, beyond that possible by a for-sale-by-owner. But beyond that, ultimately a matchmaking service functions much like online dating. It's a savings of labor and time, but not a magical engine of new possibilities.
