I gave my parents a puppy last year, she is like 1 year and 2 month old now. I visit my parents once a week and always play with the dog. Had dinner there last night and today I miss that dog already.

Do I miss the girl that I dated for a month ? Nope !

Went on vacation for 2 weeks, flying back home, who do you thing I look forward to seeing my Girlfriend or the dog ?

Cutting to the chase:

What do you ultimately see coming from you with this current GF?
What's the long term?

You don't have to answer me here, answer to yourself.

Animals represent unconditional love. With most human interrelations, the love is conditional.

I have unconditional love for good Alfredo. I can't wait to eat it again, but I can't have it everyday for what it will do to me in the long term..Or if I DO eat it everyday, in the very SHORT term!

To their owners, they represent unconditional love. People who have trouble with human relationships tend to love their animals, even to the point of giving more attention to their pets than to their loved ones.
