I don't know how many men I've dated, lost track because of so many "meet and greet" coffee dates from online. But actual committed relationships: four.
High school boyfriend lasted little over a year (until he went to college); first college boyfriend lasted my freshman year of college (about a year, until he transferred to another school); second college boyfriend lasted sophomore year of college (until he dropped out and joined the Army and I never heard from him again); and the last was my now ex-husband (we were married 13 years and dated a year before we were married).
I did date one man recently for about 8-9 months. But we never actually said we were in a committed relationship or anything. In fact, it was when I asked him if he considered us boyfriend/girlfriend (we'd been dating exclusively) that he kind of flaked out on me and broke up with me. But we are still close friends.
Counting only people I dated for at least two months, and starting in 10th grade, 15 and one husband. Didn't lose the virginity until #6
Counting only people I dated for a year or more, 6 and one husband.
After my divorce, one, though there have been dates since he and I broke up a year ago. I'm kind of in a holding pattern until I move this summer.
I can't tell you how many people I've been on dates with, though. Probably close to 200. (And no, I didn't sleep with them all. Not even close, as I'm sure some bonehead out there is going to say something about it.)
But I'm 48 and was only with my ex-husband and last SO for 7 years each, so when you do the math, it's 19 years worth of dating. Take out all the relationships that were at least a year long and you're still left with 10 years of minor relationships (3-6 months) and simple dates. Take the minor relationships out that's about about 7 years of simple dates ranging from ice cream to OLD dates that were real dates (not just coffee meet-ups) to guys that after about 3 or 4 dates, meh, one or both of us lost interest.
Geez, I'm old.
