It's a very sad state that you describe. I'm certain that millions of people will have a genuine attraction towards another, but never approach that person, because they are paralyzed by fear. You have two people who need the other to make the first move, but no one makes it. I'm sure most who feel that there is no one for them, actually has had someone, but neither could muster the courage to approach the other...sad really.
Question for the shy guys: When you really, really like a girl, will nothing stop you from telling her you like her? Or will your nerves get the better of you and you'll let the opportunity pass you by, even though it's a great loss?
Shy guys are afraid rejection and getting hurt. If they really like someone, it still may not be enough for them to overcome their fears. If they're confident they won't be rejected, that would pretty much eliminate their fear. So if a shy guy likes a girl, he needs a strong signal that she likes him too.
I'm not super shy but pretty reserved overall. I mentioned in another thread earlier today that the night I met my wife, one of my buddies literally pushed me in the back in her direction to go talk to her.

If I knew then what I know now and all that...
