The only "rule" I give people who are entering into an age gap relationship is to consider all the things they want from a relationship - and then ask themselves if anything on that list is precluded by the age gap.

If not - then whats the issue exactly?

My current partners are 2 and 8 years younger than me and the age gaps could not be less relevant to our relationship.

I'm 25 and I won't date a woman younger than 20. That's too young for me.

My parents are 11 years apart - they have been married for 30+ years.

My family in Czech Republic, there is a 23 year difference between the married couple.

Various friends/family are the same age or just a few years younger/older. Throughout my life I've been told this and that about age, what works and what doesn't. But when I think about the actual couples I know I've come to realize it depends on the people, not the age (talking consenting adults here).

As for me, legal on up. Feminists talk about dating "age appropriate", so what's better than that if it all works out?

I guess when I drop into one of the movie theaters I do side work in, I could call the cutesy high school senior chick who admittedly loves it when I stop by "creepy" (she knows I'm twice her age), just to be egalitarian about it, but I am sure that she is a strong and independent young woman who can make up her own mind about whose company she loves...so I won't treat her like an airhead who needs direction on this matter.

So this chart is in reference to married couples - you may want to think of these as the more "successful" couples....or not!

I am in the 1.1% catagory. Still married and doing just fine after 6.5 years.
