Meh - I think the things that she says about single fathers, divorced men, and older men are FAR more offensive!

I'm not sure I could do it, but that's mostly because of boredom, not difficulty.
You obviously know a lot about being a parent.

The real question is why anybody's opinion on this (outside of that of one's partner) would for any reason even slightly matter.

Why? Being a parent is so much more complicated than you are making it out to be - and I'm not talking about being a stay at home parent versus a working parent. Before we had children, I didn't know what it was like to be a parent either - so I don't hold it against anyone for not knowing what it's like. However, when you think you know what's it's like when you don't - well, that's funny.

I have a friend that is having a baby in a few weeks. I'll tell her not to worry - she'll probably just be bored because babies sleep for so much of the time.

Well, yeah. When they're not busy being in school all day. Darn babies! So boring!

Because I would like to know what is so difficult.

Get them up. 7am?
Feed them. 7:30am?
Drop them at school. 8:30am? (delete if bus service is available)
6-7 hrs later pick them up 3:30pm? (delete if bus service is available)
3:30 -8pm? fix snack, take to park, take to museum, go over homework, bathe, dinner??

...................................
She will probably be tired. Babies sleep in increments and then want to be fed.

I don't know what it's like when they are older than 3 because my oldest is only 3. I don't claim to know what it's like because I have not experienced it and every child is different.

I'm sorry but you obviously have no idea what having a baby is like. I'm not sure how to correct you when you are trying to reduce having a baby to 2 sentences.

I already said that Pre-K kids are another story.

Just in case you think I am trying to be argumentative - I'm not, I'm truly interested.

Yes - and then you said that it's only for 4-5 years (do you know how long that is!!!) and that they sleep for 12-18 hours a day anyway.

Do you think that you know what it's like to be a parent?

The biggest thing that most people don't seem to get that don't have kids is that you can't punch out at 5pm like you can with a job.

Child raising is a 24/7 job.
