Good evening, everyone.

So is there a guideline for every person in the world? I was talking to a friend and said that I can't believe how fast time is flying by and how my 25th birthday was around the corner. As I said this a guy popped up and said "you better start to get yourself together man! You're supposed to be married and have an established career by 27. This way you'll have a kid young enough and be young enough to be in your son's high school graduation". This made me think that perhaps I'm doing life wrong? I mean yeah I'm only 25 and decided to get back into college late, but, isn't life about being ready? Who are teaching these people these guidelines?

Don't worry about people like that. There's no time limit on that stuff.

Live your life in a manner that works for you. . . that's the key.

No one specific person made up the guidelines you question; it's just that there are many who are very vocal about how others should live their lives.

The older you get, the better you understand that there is no actual plan, and your life is what YOU make it.

It's great to have a career in your 20s. But it doesn't have to be that way. Just live life as you see fit, hopefully one just isn't reckless about things.

For me, I would like an established career by 30. But that's me. It could take longer, and even so, it's not the end of the world.

The guideline is at a certain age, you shouldn't be confused by comments like this and follow your own plan.

OP, that person was either being facetious, or being a jerk. Don't take it seriously. You're doing fine.

You have to have children in your twenties or settle down; you don't have to do any of that period. The only aspect you try to do in life is try and be happy for the most part. Chase you dreams, your goals, do whatever you want. It's called YOUR LIFE for a reason.
