Be friendly and show interest. I'm married but use to use humor as my icebreaker and conversation starter. It worked really well, and if a guy wasn't interested it was easy to tell.
If you're not into humor then compliment or remark about something their doing or wearing- just try to end your remark on an open ended question to get them talking, rather than a yes or no.
For example, "that's a nice sweater and it looks great on you, can I ask where you got it from?"
Try to find something in common with them to chat about. Perhaps you could talk to an approachable looking guy who is wearing your favorite sports team's t-shirt or hat. ;-)
Oh, that reminds me, OP.....walk/play with your dog, ideally a big one. Man bait. I know it's not advice on how to approach a guy, but holy crap, it helps in the "meeting men" department. I can't speak for all men, but I will come talk to you 100% of the time that you're walking a medium or larger dog, as long as you're not on your phone or with another guy.
Don't have a dog? Don't get one just to meet men. But this post is just one of a zillion examples of how much it works.
Was so gonna do that!!! lol
I have a cat, they don't seem to have the same appeal
Believe it or not that sort of works...I remember years ago seeing a guy in a Las Vegas casino, he one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen (he kinda looked like Jude Law). Im a shy girl, but I couldn't help myself, he walked by me and I told him he looked like Jude Law and that he was basically super hot! Well he followed me around the rest of the night, grabbing a drink with me and all....but then it became obvious he was trying to get laid, and that wasn't happening.
