And as for the re-entering work force (not to get off topic) i re-entered what to me was very late (age 45 after 20 years without working full time) and though it was terrifying, I quickly acclimated (had to, that or go broke, great motivator not to be a bag lady LOL) and it did wonders for my poise, self-confidence and ease in the world. This current job my supervisor actually is THRILLED at my "maturity" and she says over and over she wishes she had more mature people on her staff like me. Granted that is an allusion to my age, and I am a whole lot older than many people at this humble rung on the ladder, but it's also a valuable asset to have recognized, you have skills you don't even realize.

You go girl!!!
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm about the same time out of "the workforce." Yes, necessity is going to be a great motivator (cough) here, and this will get me on it.....now.

Will keep you posted!

Okay, let's get down to it. Which site? Some of them I've looked at seem very....odd? Is there a reputable one?

Yes. eharmony.com or match.com

You're probably going to have to go through a lot of frogs before you meet that prince, though.

I think that there is a great feeling of relief when you make up your mind that you don't want to get married again. I got divorced 17 years ago. I made up my mind that I wouldn't remarry because I didn't want to get involved in any step-parenting relationships. I wanted to concentrate on raising my son without the input of a "step-dad", and when he was an adult then I could do whatever I wanted socially. Consequesntly, I had gotten more marriage proposals from men I had dated then I ever would have gotten if I wanted to get married. I think it was just the challenge. I would tell them early on that I have no interest in getting married or living together... EVER... so if they want a more permanent relationship they should look elsewhere. I guess that is like catnip to them. Maybe they only want it because they were told they cant have it.
Anyway, the one who took the attitude of "That's okay... I can wait" hung in there and dated me for 10 years and after my son joined the service and moved out he asked "What's your excuse now?". I didn't have any, so at 50 years old I am married again!

I have another suggestion--dont miss your class reunions ! I can not beleive the 'hook ups' of old loves and high school secret crushes that have blossomed years later.

I couldn't imagine dating somebody who was 50.

I don't really care for younger women.
