So is any person who lives in a town where the male / female ratio leans heavy in one direction, is the sex in the minority not being judged on their own merits? or is it a "well there's not much to choose from" situation.
I doubt it's "either/or" so much as both. Keep in mind it's not one gender assessing its option with respect to the other gender, it's individuals judging their options. As such you'll find as many different answers as you will individuals.
Nope, because I would not have a problem with humanity ceasing to exist in that situation. If all the rest of the men on Earth are gone, it is clearly for the reason that our time to exist as humans has ended.
Actually I think it would be a great opportunity to finally not have to compete in that manner.

The reason I mentioned that is I remember in sociology that dynamic was fascinating.
like before I mentioned a friend who never had luck with women until he moved to a town with fewer men. then all of a sudden the types of women that never gave him a time of day were flirting with him all the time.

Ever hear of a woman saying "I wouldn't marry you if you were the last guy on earth!"? They do say that when angrily rejecting a guy and they mean it. A woman either clicks with you or she does not. If she does not she doesn't care whether there's more where you came from or whether you truly are the last man on earth. She is not interested. Women are often advised to go to states like Alaska and Wyoming to find men because the population is skewed towards males. Men are never advised to go to states where there are more women, because it is a known fact that this has NO bearing on how receptive women will be. If your friend had better luck in the town with fewer men it is probably that the women there found his type of guy acceptable. Coincidence, in other words.

I'm betting in some 3rd world areas, such as in rural Africa, there are more than a few of these that exist as the males have had to leave to work, or have died in violence.
And I would absolutely hate to be the last man on earth. Whatever caused it to happen would be horrifying.
WOMEN caused it...so yeah pretty horrifying muwahahahahaha
could you imagine all the changes they would implement
no more sports, or at least drastically stripped down
porn would be outlawed (except for the richest of the womenz)
It would be a misdemeanor to leave socks on the floor, toothpaste on in the sink, the bed unmade
Peeps would only work 3 weeks out of the month
Maternity leave would be 4 years long LOL
