I liked intellectual types, which weren't always objectively good-looking or classically so. I mean, I found them good-looking, but certainly not everyone else. I needed to find him attractive, but he needn't be a "hunk" or whatever. I was attracted to these types, but my expectations needed to be realistic. There's no way I'd change my standards. I couldn't ever be attracted to or interested in someone who isn't educated and intelligent.
True enough. But there is something to the depression and comedic genius thing. The funniest people I've known, for the most part, suffered from some mental issues, just as the best artists usually do.
The positive / upbeat "funny" people I've met are the ones that thought they were funny, but weren't.
Ok just to clarify, I am not dating guys who are of like stand up comedy caliber, they're just guys who I find to have a great witty sense of humor and am able to exchange some banter with, without either of us being sensitive about it, and I feel like I can filter myself a little less with them.
1.Stop reading internet blogs.
2. Stick with smart and funny.
3. Your friend is rude for saying you like "ugly intellectual guys". Find better friends.
In sum: do what works for you. Keep doing what works for you. To thine own self be true, no matter what ur misguided friends say. You just haven't found the right smart, funny guy.
And: what Timberline and Burglar said. Stop overthinking. Go out and circulate, so you can find a compatible smart, funny guy.
Generally speaking, if someone has to make a point of saying they have a great sense of humor... they usually don't. Although in all fairness, not everyone appreciates the same type of humor; what is funny to one person may come off as being an azzhole to another.
