I believe that if a man gets so mad at his significant other that he hits her hard then he does not love her anymore. If he was once in love with her then he isn't anymore. The argument was not about anything serious which is why I believe he doesn't love her. What do you think?

Did the woman interrupt a football game he was watching?

I cannot get inside the hitter's mind and know if he loves her. Also if alcohol and/or drugs are in the picture, that can lead to violence and change who people really are.

it is completely possible to love someone and still be an insufferably abusive ahole.
It says nothing about their love for another, It says a lot about their character though.

Odd question...

She woke him up because she needed something from the master bathroom. He always goes to bed much earlier so he should be used to her in the room while he is sleeping he never got violent before. No drink or drug problem. Getting mad is normal but hitting?
