Yes, my friends in Tennessee told me about Alabama. I wanted to go to Memphis--to Graceland, specifically, as I grew up in the Age of Elvis--and joked I'd be the only black guy there. They told me I'd be surprised. I met some good, genuine people in Tennessee, and I'm grateful, it upped my hope in humanity just a little.
