In all fairness, that's REALLY dependent upon who exactly "yourself" is.

I'd argue sitting around waiting for someone to message you is the epitome of laziness. Lazier than copy pasta, far lazier than boilerplate.

Sitting on your duff and waiting for others seems to be the M.O. of an awful lot of online dating users.

I always ignored canned letters and messages that just said "hi." There were too many other people writing real messages to waste time with that.

9/10 the really hot people on online dating with one line messages are scam artists. Heck, even most of the non-hot ones with cut ans paste/one-line messages were scam artists.

The one really hot person who messaged me sent a real message (and now we are dating).

No argument, there.

Which is why I was the one to write my now-husband.

And I didn't message him with a "HI HOW R U" cut and paste job, either, I sent him a funny, thoughtful message that referenced his rather well-written and charming profile, noting lots of things specific to him that impressed me. He wrote me back, in kind.

So, you can see why I was wholly unimpressed with the scads of lazy-ass cut-and-paste jobs littering my inbox, and ignored/deleted them.

Copy paste or personalize.. its all garbage. Get off it and go out and find your girl/guy. Tried both, doesn't work. If you are not Brad Pitt, you don't stand a chance.

If ALL you want is someone to have sex with, please leave the dating sites to people who are trying to date, and go get on Adult friend finder and such. Quit muddying our waters.
Hey now. Alt.com is the same site as adultfriendfinder. How is that any more acceptable? Lots of people are on adultfriendfinder who are normal, dating people...not just looking for a quick hook up.
