What the OP's intent was isn't a good idea usually. I knew a woman who broke up with her long-time boyfriend, who was somewhat controlling. She met him when she was young but had outgrown him. She was dating another guy for about three months when he died in a car accident. The old boyfriend made the comment, "God works in mysterious ways." He just looked like a jerk.
