I guess its the fact that he considers 18 year olds that made me feel a little off and creeped out. We are both in NY and its easy to find 18+, so why find 18?

Maybe he's keeping his options open for any 18 yr old that could be interested? :/ Technically, 18 is the legal age...to date someone as old as him. Not that he's THAT old, but you get my gist. It'd be creepy if he was 35+.

OP, don't overthink it. It is a dating site after all. You both are there for a reason, to meet people. If you want to continue seeing him, do so. And if it bothers you that much, go ahead and ask him.

Not familiar with OKC's format.
Has he had an online profile for over 3 years and not updated it?

IMO, and from experience, age obsession is largely an American phenomena, and should that be surprising, attaching ill-conceived images to various ages?

The guy I was talking to on line claimed to be 52. But other places on line showed he was 39. The ex husband lied about his age when I first met him, claiming he was two years older. Why do guys or why do people do this? It doesn't make sense to me. If they get into a relationship with someone, they're starting out as a liar.

Why do women lie about their weight
Why do short people lie about their height

I think it's simply because some people do it out of embarrassment . They don't want to be thought as old. Or they want to seem more age appropriate.
