Eh, I realize misandry is socially accepted all over the place, but I don't see this thread as man bashing at all. Sometimes people just need to blow off some steam.
If more men were honest on On Line Dating sites, their self summery would probably read like this:
I only want extremely good-looking women who have kept the same body as they had at age 18. I'm not interested in sharing common interests. I don't care if she likes the things I like because I don't want to communicate much anyway. I just want a woman who can boost my ego, make my male friends envious, and have good sex. A love relationship to me is summed up in the criteria above. Do not contact me unless you meet those criteria.
If all the men who are like this would just say so up front, it would be such a time saver!
I don't see the OP suggesting that all men want X or Y, or that all men are less than honest about what they want. "If more men were honest" implies that some men are honest, meaning they want whatever they say they want. Having made the claim that at least some men are deceptive, she then says that if all men who were deceptive would be honest a lot of confusion could be avoided.
For someone apparently frustrated with OLD, that's a pretty tame rant which seems to have some truth to it. And yes, it can apply to women and people of different sexual orientations. Not knowing or not being honest about what you're looking for in OLD creates heartache.

Really? Ouch. I know some people for whom online dating worked very well. I realize there are some bad apples out there, but come on. A sweet guy is never going to want someone so sour.

Well, a lot of my friends do approach it that way, but not me. And to be fair, I have a couple of female "friends" (acquaintances really) who just use it for free meals and don't want to meet anyone. One of them has been on dozens of first dates and not a single second date although she gets asked for a second one many times.
Basically OLD is difficult for everybody, at least everybody who isn't unusually attractive. I am not, so I chose not to restore my account when my recent OLD relationship ended.

I can understand that...but a woman complaining about OLD isn't going to get much sympathy to be blunt. Men have it way way waaaayyy harder on the OLD sites. There is no comparison and it's not even open for debate at this point. It's just common knowledge.
Mine would say "not needy, not annoying, and don't be a stick in the mud."
