Nevada has the highest divorce rate:
--- Prostitution is legal in certain parts
--- Home of "sin city"
--- No real stable and diverse economy
--- doesn't have a significant number of colleges thus a lower percentage of college educated residents.
CONCLUSIONS:
Educated couples that don't work long hours and engage in "sinful" activites are more likely not to divorce

Oh man, good thing I had swallowed my drink before I read this.
I suppose you can read what you wish into any of these "studies" and come to whatever conclusions you wish. Personally, I see most parts of Nevada as WAY more up-and-coming and better to live in than DC.
As far as the "sex trade" goes, that's in very limited parts of certain counties in the state. It doesn't even come into the radar of MANY people who live there. Same actually goes with the casinos. Reno, believe it or not, is actually an up and coming city, which is not centered around the casinos. (Aside from the fact that the casinos are located "downtown"....which doesn't mean too much, since that's a place that most locals avoid anyway.)
DC is well, DC. If you can deal with the attitude there, cool. But, it's laughable to me that someone would come about with this "conclusion" about it.
maybe it's just easier to get a divorce in Nevada so more people get one there.
As far as your "conclusion" people from all over the country and all over the world go to Nevada to engage in what you call "sinful activities." Seems like the person is stretching to use data to make some point.
I thought this was an interesting and insightful statistic.
Washington DC has the lowest divorce rate in the nation while Nevada has the highest.
Reasons Why:
DC may have the lowest rate because:
--- it is a relatively small district
--- cushy governemnt jobs with 40 HOUR work weeks means more family time and less stress
--- people tend to marry at a later age in dc (statistically more educated people get married later in life and DC has high population of educated people
--- just a lot more single people in DC

i live in DC, and from my observations the reason divorce is so low in DC is that the vast majority of people here are college-educated professionals who marry later in life, too busy with career and just want to be fun, wild, and single until they find that special someone. There shouldn't be a rush to get married. For the same reasons, places like Boston and NYC also have low divorce rates compared to other states. Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Connecticut have the lowest divorce rates in the country, while Southern states have the highest.
And I don't mean to sound condescening toward Westerers and Southerners, but from my observations the quality of potential mates (more specifically, the men) in places like the Bible Belt is very very low, which perhaps accounts for huge divorce rates there. You have a large share of creeps, emotionally unstable dudes, grown men who still live with their parents, immature men (immature in a bad way), anti-social recluses, poteintial mates who aren't very intelligent / well-rounded, etc...the women have no choice but to choose amongst a pool of losers.
In DC, your choice of mates is of very high-quality, being highly educated and all.
And I don't mean to sound condescening toward Westerers and Southerners

Erm...not condescending at all.
I could go on about how your sweeping generalizations don't do too much for your position, but it's not worth it. We see what we want to see. Plain and simple.
Sorry, but there's way more to the West than what you describe.
I love the West. But "dating" in the West and South and finding a potential mate in those areas is far, far different from dating in places like NYC, Boston, DC. The quality of mates is far greater in areas where there are more college-educated people.
