This has been my experience for the most part. The few times I felt strongly that I was connecting with someone, she did not pick me as a match. You just never know with people...

Also, I too have met a few women at multiple events. I always remarked immediately that "I believe we've met before" and that served as the icebreaker. What really surprised me in a few cases was how much they remembered about me.
