I prefer close enough in age that we have the same pop culture references.

When I was younger I liked 'em one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

Not proud of it now that I'm older but I was one of those women once. It was all about the $.

And that "formula" is crap, that means its ok for me to date 29 yos. Fudging creepy.

I've heard of this formula being used to determine the youngest age of a woman a man could date. Not, as the OP states, what her age should be.

We've had TONS of these threads- Use the search function!

No, a man SHOULD not date a younger woman. He also shouldn't date an older woman. He should date the woman he falls in love with, doesn'tt matter if that's a younger or an older one.

I'm 27, female and I can tell you I would NOT date a man who's almost 50. I don't have a daddy complex. I'd say he shouldn't be older than mid thirties. My SO is 31, and all of the men I've ever dated were around my age (plus minus a few years). There are women out there though who like older men, most of them mainly because of the money-security-thing. There are also men who like older women. Each to his own.

Luckily my husband has never heard of your formula because apparently I should be ten years younger. I'm 38 and if I weren't married I think the oldest I would be willing to go is maybe 50. By your calculations I should be dating men in their sixties which ain't going to happen. There are some nice looking older men out there but I'm just not attracted to men close to my father's age.

Most people I know generally stay within five years of their age. I don't know any women in their thirties that would date a man in his sixties unless he was super rich.

Was 8 years with a guy 25 years older. Am currently in a LTR with a guy who is 19 years my senior.

Fortunately, I've learned to laugh heartily at the idiotic stereotypes about these sorts of relationships (especially when they are couched in "many" or "most" phraseology).

I'm 26. Definitely into older guys.. 32-34. Anything older would be uninterested.
