This is not a one size fits all. Requirements will vary as we've seen from responders. Age/maturity is a big factor too. This is based on some men/women forums I read that talked about this in great depth. I just took the most mentioned requirements that girls made and compiled them here. No offense intended.
You should have said that these criteria are for attracting girls, then. You said "women" in your thread title. No wonder you're getting disagreement from the members here.
What I have learned is that, generally speaking, these things are most important to a woman:
1 good looking/handsome
2 tall
3. full head of thick hair
4. confident/easy-going/sense of humor
5. good build
Well then you learned wrong. Back to school for you!

That's funny, my fiancé lacks in all the areas but 4. I think I'd agree with you about generally speaking a lot of women, especially younger ones, prefer those 5 attributes; I mean, it would be like an ideal. That's my impression at least (and especially tall and good build--I heard that comes from wanting to feel protected or something, at least that's the only thing that did make sense 'cause I never understood that appeal--I prefer smaller, shorter men). Probably a good percentage of people on this forum are going to be outside of the norm on this though (it seems quite a few are older/more mature and past the whole looks thing).
My nephews are in that category of tall, good looking, good build, etc.. They are in college and it's true, they even dress in rags and there are still plenty of girls chase after them. No money yet, still mooching of their parents. I don't have short nephews to compare. They are all taller than 6'2.
