My husband and I were out shopping earlier this year and I noticed this really pretty peridot ring and said hey if you're looking for something to get me for Christmas, I really like this ring. So at Chistmas I open this small box from him, and it's a very pretty ring, but it's a dark green emerald stone. I wear lots of lime green and love that color, not so much the dark green. I'm just afraid I'll hurt his feelings because I know he worked hard to find a gift he thought I'd like. Should I say anything or just wear the new ring?

He's probably clueless about subtle differences in colors and opted for the more valuable stone because he loves you.

Love him just as much and wear your new ring with pride.

Maybe should have mentioned it's a lab created emerald, not the genuine article, if that makes a difference. And yes, I think it has to do with not knowing the difference in shades of green.

Emeralds come in all shades of green. Did it say lab created on the box? I'm always grateful for any piece of jewelry my husband gives me.

No, it does not make a difference.
You pointed out a green ring, and that is what he got you. Emeralds come in all shades, even that of a peridot.

I'm very thankful that my wife of 20 plus years isn't high maintenance. Thank you Honey for loving every single neanderthal purchase I have made for gifts on anniversaries, birthdays and holidays over the years. Thank you for not being so materialistic that you would complain about a color or even think of complaining about a shade of a color on a Christmas present I purchased for you.

Thank you O.P. for reminding me how lucky I am.
