You COULD get her pregnant on the first time, just like you COULD get hit by a bus on your way to the Walgreens, and you COULD get gunned down by a sniper sitting at your desk at work, probably not going to happen, but I guess there is a chance. In life we call this "acceptable risk." OP said it's first "official date" which leads me to believe that they have already met, seen each other a couple times, texted 10 million times, etc. So the "not knowing her background crap is out the window, because he largely knows this.
If you were 17 and both virgins, fine wait a bit. Being adults here, why drag it out and wait? Unless you are both in on it, holding back obvious sexual attraction, then it's cool, but otherwise see if you are sexually compatible. You don't want to waste three months of your adult life with someone to find out they are the worst lay you will ever come across, and the "let's wait so it's special" crap means she wants to get banging all the other guys out of her system before she settles down with you.
