I've recently gone through a breakup and I see a lot of women in their 20s/30s with their profile pics on OLD sites with a small child (even if the caption indicates it's not theirs) or an elderly relative (someone who often looks 70+).
While maybe it shows good character and is sweet, it's not typical of what most people would want to see first off the bat. Do you see this a lot?
No. I would never in a million years use my family as a prop or expose them to the zoo of OLD, and when I did OLD I skipped right over any profiles that had such pictures, even if they weren't the main photos. It's a turn-off to me, and when it comes to children in particular, it's a gross lack of common sense.

Yes, a lot of men on Tinder post photos with their kids or other people's kids. A lot of them also post photos of dogs. Both of these things can cause me to swipe left, but men with cat photos get brownie points.
I don't think it's a good idea.
I mean, if you have a child (or children), say so in your profile. Why expose your kids in a OLD pic? The child gets the impression that "Mom's looking for a new boyfriend", or, "Dad's looking for a new girlfriend". I'm on the fence about pics of one's elderly parents also. Ok, you're family oriented, you love your Mom and Dad. I loved my parents unconditionally but never would I have put a pic of myself with them in a OLD profile!

LOL, I'm not into the whole electronic dating scene, but Id probably be attracted to the guys with dogs.
I don't know.
In the end, if its working at attracting the type of person THEY are looking for, why not? *shrugs*
If it keeps the guys only interested in 'hitting it and quitting it' away from responding, all the better for them.
I don't personally understand an aversion to it. Everyone knows kids and elderly people on some level.
If a woman's only looking for a good time I'm not sure why she would need a profile to find it.

But for single mothers, especially, they might not want to bait other kinds of online predators (not just the guys looking for easy sex) with pictures of their kids.
