Emotions speaking there. You have no way to show that Children and Women are raped under those circumstances nor do you have the ability to show that the rape would not have occurred if they were legally employed.

Domestic houseworkers legally hired can also be subject to rape. Domestic services is still legal.
Men are also subject to human trafficking... not just children and women.

Yes.. buying and selling people should be made illegal. The point you fail to grasp is that it is irregardless of the type of labor they are subjected to.... sex trade is not the exception here. Furthermore, it is not sufficient to outlaw the underlying labor in hopes to curtail human trafficking.

You cannot prove one way or the other. No one can.

A rape can occur to a trafficked domestic worker.
A rape can occur to a trafficked retail worker.
A rape can occur to a trafficked agricultural worker.
A rape can occur to a trafficked nail salon worker.
A rape can occur to a trafficked sex worker.

etc..

Of those worker types, only the sex worker is not only a victim of being trafficked but also a criminal for being a prostitute.

Human trafficking actually also exist in pornography (in other countries) where pornography is not as highly regulated as here in the US. It is a terrible fact.... sadly.

Again... ANY labor type (including porn actress) has the potential for human trafficking.

Yes, my starment was more towards that people where attempting to blur all things together to fit individual arguments, Not that it does not exist at all.

The context It was being used within.

Fine, we'll distill this to the very basics, getting back to the original post: Prostitution (of women) and pornography exist because men insist on its existence. The end.

Don't fool yourself - women enjoy sex just as much as men do. They just don't always their desire as obvious as guys do - or admit it as much. Unfortunately, it's still not really "socially acceptable" for women to make it extremely obvious that they enjoy sex - especially here in the U.S.

Prostitution and pornography exist because people insist it exists. Men do prostitute and women do consume pornography. I see no need to single out women as the "producers" of sexual material and men as the "consumers". As to why it seems that both are slanted towards men (related the OP's question). It is in our nature... part genetics, part conditioning, many variables.

Here is one interesting transcript that might explain at least one of the variables:

Transcript | This American Life

Act One: Life of a person who has a condition of zero testosterone in their body

Quote:
When you have no testosterone, you have no desire. And when you have no desire, you don't have any content in your mind. You don't think about anything.
Act Two (and, for me, the most interesting part): Life of a transgendered (female->male) who describes what it is like to live with a massive increase in testosterone in his body.

Quote:
After testosterone, there was no narrative. There was no language whatsoever. It was just, I would see a woman who was attractive or not attractive. She might have an attractive quality, nice ankles or something, and the rest of her would be fairly unappealing to me.

But that was enough to basically just flood my mind with aggressive, pornographic images, just one after another. It was like being in a pornographic movie house in my mind. And I couldn't turn it off. I could not turn it off. Everything I looked at, everything I touched, turned to sex.
The last two Acts in the article are also worth reading... Now I'm not saying that testosterone is the main or primary factor here but it is a contributing factor. This would suggest that if women naturally produced the same amount of testosterone they too would be naturally driven to consume sexual stimulating images/situations to the same degree as men.

How many times have people suggested getting hormone levels checked if a male later in age looses interest in sex? This is why.... one could say that men are wired this way naturally.

PS> A long time ago a similar thread appeared. I assumed that male targeted pornography vastly out numbered female targeted pornography. What was incorrect about my reasoning (as I am male... visually driven as many are) was that I took into account only pornographic images and video. Another member here reminded me that erotic novels and written pornography is a very large industry as well.... for the most part targeted towards the female population. So while video/imagery for men is extremely lucrative, to say that women do not consume pornography is simply false. They are simply driven to consume a different type of pornography.

Is it more or less in quantity than men in our society? I have no idea. One thing is for sure, reading an erotic novel is surely more acceptable in our society than watching porno....

I find it interesting that many of the cases here involves a wife killing her husband for of all things a life insurance settlement.

I don't think one gender is any better than another. I think there are just two different elements going on here.

You need to seriously ask yourself these questions before you jump to conclusions about what you think is going on in the sex trade, because you obviously know very little.
I never made a generalization that stated ALL were there voluntarily. Those in America; however, that are prodding around as escorts, by and large are voluntarily doing it in large numbers.

How I know this is simply looking at the number of INDEPENDENT women advertising themselves online. No pimp involved here.

Also look up some of these cam websites with women not being shy at all to ask for a tip to do whatever. Not forced at all. They are making more in one day than some make in a week or even month.

The premise that women in pornography or prostitution are there automatically unwillingly is one that is untrue. Sure there are cases where they are not, and that's pretty apparent when something like that is going on. Women having pimps, etc..
