Generally, I would put an awkward first sexual encounter down to nerves. If I liked him, I would definitely try again.

Use your imagination. Maybe things went faster than they 'should' or things did not work as they usually do or maybe just an incompatability. Early days are sometimes awkward to those sensitive enough to be concerned about them.
