OK, I'm going to have to ask. What exactly do you guys mean by "coupon"?? I was thinking like ... Groupon vouchers (e.g. 2 mains for £30) or discount vouchers received by email or that you can find on the internet to print off (e.g. 50% off food). I'm not sure why anyone would find it a turn off if one of them was used to pay for/towards a date
That's what I thought.
I mean I wasn't envisioning the guy the Sunday before Date Night sitting on his living room floor in soft slippers with scissors and two back issues of Good Housekeeping plus a coffee ring-stained Ralph's flyer.
But for you, does a guy taking you to nicer places matter much? Even though she can afford to do more herself as the man I really like being the one that gets to initiate it and pay. She herself hasn't said anything, just curious what other women, especially those in her age group feel.
All the money in the world, fancy restaurants, sleek cars, name-brand clothes, etc, don't make a person better or worse. The personality makes the person.
After saying that, if she had to pay each time you went out, or you were a cheapskate, then yes, it would start to matter. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Good luck!
I have to admit, for me, pulling out a coupon while paying for dinner on a first date has a certain cheese factor. I can't help it. But the most that would happen is that I might have an internal chuckle about it, or even crack a small joke (but most likely not). If I liked the guy, it wouldn't change my opinion of him or prevent me from seeing him again.
I'm a guy, but it all depends for me. If it's a first date, I'm not gonna spend a lot of money. The amount of money doesn't mean much to me if she's into me or we're exclusive, but I don't wanna spend a whole lot of money on a girl that I may never go out with again. I think that's reasonable and fair, I don't see why anyone would have a problem with this. I would bet that's what most people do.
