I think of it as someone you have a soul history with, many past lives together
And consequently great spark/chemistry/electricity.
What is your take on it.

I would say the second part.
Although I have never met anyone who I felt fit that description for me, I do believe some have found theirs.
The idea of finding one's soul mate is an unrealistic notion. Consequently I think that this romantic notion of a soul mate makes many people unhappy in relationships or unable to find a good relationship. Soul mates are made, not found.
Someone you construct in your mind who matches all the attributes of your current love?
I don't believe in soulmates...it seems wildly unlikely that so many people happen to have their unique soulmate right where they happen to live when they could theoretically be anywhere in the world!
People are on a continuum in terms of how suitable they are for you - from 0-100%. You have to decide the percentage you're comfortable with and decide whether to continue with them or keep looking.
The term should really be about compatibility. The more compatible the couple, the more it is likely to feel like something out of the ordinary and touch you on a new level.

It has nothing to do with that for me. I'm not superstitious, so I do not believe in ghosts, gods, spirits, souls, faeries, angels, etc. Since there is no such think as (boo!) a soul, there can be no such thing as a soulmate. No need for fairy tales as adults.
There can be incredible connections and closeness, and live long friendships and deep caring, but not soulmates.
