I've moved from NJ to SC and so far my impression is in both places there are friendly and not so friendly women. I will say, up north if a woman doesn't want to be bothered with you or doesn't like you, then you know it, down here not always sure. I found some women to be friendly but it seemed fake and caught a few giving the up and down look. At the same time, I know almost all the women on my street in SC only after 1.5 years, when I lived in NJ, I knew maybe one.

It's odd, but I've noticed that northern women are oftentimes found further away from the equator than southern women. One of these days, I'm sure I'll figure it all out.

I agree with you. I am from Chicago and have been in South 14 years. Some of these comments are so harsh. Also, just FYI, I am trying to get together Northern people who live in the South now who would enjoy getting together socially like once a month or so. (am in Alabama) It can be all women, couples, etc. I registered with this City Data the new group. Send a response if you can.

We've glossed over the Midwesterners, for instance. I went to grad school in the Midwest. I found them to be the most genuine and easiest to get along with than of any of the other groups (North, South, West, Pacific Northwest, for instance). A very pleasant blend of honest, hospitable and mannered.
For your manipulation comment, a rep point.

I've seen both kinds of women-those that don't need make-up and those that do. When they crawl out of the sack in the mornin' that's when you notice it.

Northern women use the time saved not worrying about appearances going to college or advancing their careers. I can sit down and have an intelligent conversation with most northern women. Down south we talk about other people or our hair. Northern women don't play games. If they don't like you that's it. They just won't talk to you. They'll at least wait until you're out of hearing range to start talking about you. You cannot get by on looks alone in the North as you can in the south. Miss Teen South Carolina would not survive one day up north.
Just my observations.

lol- yes the provincial bs- in some small towns in the South is mind-boggling, I also have never seen, in this day and age, people who work in a bar or restaurant, are rude to the customers, and think they have job security Up north they would be replaced in an instant.
Give me a city anyday....small town mentality= prejudice and stupidity

It depends what you mean by North, as South if a lil more defined, but does the Great Lakes count as the North? I have lived all over the U.S. and I hate to generalize but there are some differences, personally I find midwestern and Southern women a lot more down to earth than Northern and West coast women. I would never date a New York or California girl ever again.

I'm a southern-raised woman and I totally agree. When I unfortunately moved to PA I couldn't believe the way the women here literally have no class, no pride in their appearance and seemingly lack common sense and intelligence and absolutely NO charm. The women in the south take far greater pride in their appearance, are nicer and do have a level of charm and good manners you just don't see very often up north.

Northern women are more status seeking social climbers,at least in the more populated areas. Southern women like their status too but aren't as in-your-face about it. I'm checking out the midwest
