Oh, yeah, I lived in Atlanta for a couple of years before grad school. Sugarcoat is the word. That is the "canyon" between the Union and the Confederacy....that of the veneer versus the raw! Gotta love it.

Southern women intially seemed to like me but, with my direct and opinionated nature, the rapport withered rather soon. Northern women, in Atlanta, and western women from large cities (much more like northern women) are accustomed to telling it like it is themselves, so they seemed to like me regardless of what came out of my mouth.

Some of you have said northern women are bi(o)tchy. Well, some are a little too tough in that Jamie Lee Curtis quasi-butch kind of way, but most aren't. A southern women can be just as bi(o)tchy in that she can (attempt to) be manipulative. But then, to be fair, I've met a small handful that had a good sense of humor and were good sports and that actually thought I was interesting and funny.

They are also much more competitive with each other, though they do so in the "nicest" way. I like Northern women, only because I like the thrill of the chase, I like women who are a little bit more headstrong, and I find them more appealing in general. Southern women are just....too nice

Southern women do that hi honey, baby, sugar sweetie pie thing even when you have never seen them in your life. I don't know how many times they have done that when I have gone to purchase something in some random shop or restaurant.

I have to admit, it annoys me greatly. I would rather have a Northern waitress hand me my coffe and just say, "here" than all the names.

Neither really likes you anyway, at least with the Northern woman you know where you stand.

I've lived in the north and south.
The northern women are to the point and blunt and honest. They seem to get things done in a timely manner. Quick. A northern woman will cuss and get her hands dirty.
The southern women (and men) are still fighting the war.The southern women do take more time in there appearances but with the big hair, nails and clothes that look too countryfied, it doesn't look as if they care. The southern women are too nice, which causes them to be dishonest in a lot of ways. If a southern woman hears a cuss word, she pretends not to like it and then giggles.
I don't like the sugar and darling crap either.
Basically, people are people but it's funny to have lived all over the U.S. and see the differences. When I moved from Cleveland, Ohio for instance to east Tenn., what a culture shock but some of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet, once they accept you.

I was born and raised a good hearted Southern Woman from NC..And I don't say,.. "hi honey, baby, sugar, sweetie pie thing, even when you have never seen them in your life." If say hello to me I say hello back or Hi. Your speaking of mostly the older generation down here that speaks that way or further south. Most women from NC are bitches and don't take no sh*t off anyone.. I know I am one of them! We have tons of Northerners living down here and they love us southern women. I married a Midwesterner from Nebraska, but you actually wouldn't know I am from NC anymore after being married to someone who is from the Midwest I lost my southern accent.
Everyone is different and has their own uniqueness.. southern and northern. I have northern women as friends that are just as feisty as my southern friends.. It just all a matter of opinion there are likes and dislikes about both. Don't say that southern women are bad until you get to know them.. Vise versa.
