i hAVE BEEN CELIBATE BY CHOICE FOR 6 MONTHS NOW SO THAT MEANS NO DICK INSIDE THESE WALLS SINCE THE START OF 2012 . I am currently celebrating two years of being celibate. A choice that I made after a relationship with someone who was suffering from a personality disorder, it only lasted three months but it sent me into a whirlwind that I never want to encounter again, so I have been laying real low for a couple of years now.

My primary reason from refraining from having any future intimate relationship was due to working on my Master's degree and I have a son that I am raising, so I really did not have time for a committed relationship. I graduated in May 2007, but have been actively busy with my new job. I also have a daughter finishing up her last year in college and will be going directly into the Peace Corps, so it will be a busy year again with my family. I was married for 22 years, and divorced in 2005, but was separated for a couple of years prior to the divorce. Not a bitter divorce, just one of those marriages that was not meant to last due to many factors. My ex-husband would love to reunite, but reconciliation will never happen. He hangs around here with our son on the weekend, and our daughter lives up the hill, so he is involved enough for me.

I am really enjoying my celibacy and my singlehood. It is so peaceful and I am not sure if I ever want to have an intimate relationship again that has any signs of permanency. I have grown very accustomed to my solitude and I am throughly enjoying it. My son is my priority and will be for the next forever years. He will be off to college in six years-hopefully. I am also one of those parents that will not permit a man to come and stay in my home with my son present. Not knocking anyone else who does, just different strokes for different folks.

I might see celibacy as a reason to celebrate if I were a priest or nun.

I could not care less about your address....
Your phone number would be meaningless....
And, if in all the rest of our lives, we never meet...
I will be missing nothing...
And, that, I can celebrate.
