Yep, same for me with respect to single women. And still, I wish internet dating didn't exist. I bet that without it single people would be much more open to the idea of actually getting along with each other instead of waiting for that elusive prince or princess that would seek them out online.

Boy, I hope not. It's an absolute godsend. I've dated 100x more than I ever did before it.

Why the need to jump from "this doesn't work for me" to "I hope it disappears entirely"?

The fact is that OLD works for a lot of people. But, like anything else, if it doesn't work for you, don't use it. Don't begrudge others' use and success with it.

I've been on a number of dates. Getting dates is not the real issue. I'm talking about a general sociological effect it has on people. If you cant see it, that's ok.

Perhaps I "can't see it" because you're making generalized statements about society based on your own experiences.

And, how does this article support your idea that OLD should just disappear? That society would somehow be better off if it did?

No doubt that there are people for whom OLD doesn't work. Again, it is a tool, not the be-all, end-all of dating and meeting people. However, the fact remains that it works wonderfully for a lot of people- so I have to wonder about the motivations of those who would say "heck, it hasn't worked for me, so it shouldn't be an option for anyone".

As the article says-

The choice is yours, but just note that online dating is no panacea.

In other words, keep it in perspective.
