Lots of straight-laced folks in here. Some even from the Victorian era : " Me? Baby talk?!! Are you out of your mind?!! What would society say?!! Omgosh!!"
For me baby talk would be like "Hey there pumpkin wumkin. You look tired let me fix you some hot chocolate," said in a sweet voice.
Since I'm such a serious person most of the time, giving him a baby talk would be meant to make him laugh. If he doesn't laugh at my voices, he must be dead.

To each his own...different strokes for different folks. For me sweet talk is a reassuring sound between lovers/spouses.
Never have talked "baby talk" to my husband and never will.
I never talked to my babies in "baby talk" either.
Now my husband, as a form of sarcasm, will call me "love"...and in return I will call him "dear"...but it's more akin to the gesture of the middle finger, only vocalized.
sorry..I guess it's annoying to many people..but, yes, my hubby and I have almost our own special baby-talk language..We have done this for over a decade and wont stop now..can't stop now.
I wanted to ad..it's not so much WHAT we say in our baby-talk but HOW we talk...we contort our voices into this baby-talk..
Actually, we are pretty good at it since we've talked like this for so long!!
I can't stand adults talking baby talk. Heck, I don't even like kids doing it, just babies.
