The way you wrote this gave me a headache lol.
Some events are not for SO to come along, some are. Your invitation should have a +1 on it.

Ask the host if your SO can come to the party if he/she chips in $200 for booze/food...

If a friend or a relative is nice but spouse is not, I often wish it would work in the way that only invited person would come without a spouse. Unfortunately I have to leave both out because people will bring their spouses automaticly here. Many friendship died because these friends don't understand the difference between them and their spouse. I might know my friend 10 years, she might be married 2 years, it does not mean I know her spouse I just know her.

I had a friend which I knew since we were little kids, her spouse is really unsocial and unfriendly and looks mean all the time. Why would I want to invite her spouse to anything? I want to speak with her, not with her spouse... She was my best friend who knew my all secrets, I don't want to share my secrets with her spouse... It is annoying when some fiends don't understand this.

No I am not going to write a mail to to you to your husbands mail box, lol..
