In my opinion marriage almost never benefits men.

Not so sure I agree with that. Two people working towards a common goal are able to accomplish more.

Marry the right woman and you've got yourself a happy life.

I have a very happy one planned out as a solo act, thanks, but best of luck to everyone who chooses a different path.

Sure, being single is great. I was just saying that being married isn't always some horrible situation stacked against men.

Agreed. Despite a handful of accusations to the contrary, I'm not some angry woman hater with a chip on his shoulder. I tend to keep people at arm's length regardless of gender and I have a tough time letting anyone get close.

The odds of making the wrong choice are far greater than making the right one in my view. I don't put myself 'out there' and avoid having to choose at all.

That's why I'm happy being married. I have my wife and keep everyone else at acquaintance level.

I know how you feel in that respect. For me it's more enjoyable to not be too close to people.

My partner did not need convincing, he wanted to marry ME. And I wanted to be married to HIM. Marriage is a public statement of commitment and vows to one another. You work harder at the relationship, you are a true team. I love the companionship, love having someone to come home to. We make decisions together. One foot is NOT out the door on a whim or temper tantrum. Children deserve to feel safe and secure within a good marriage. Women are respected by society within the marriage covenant vs. just shacking up.

Same here as the laws are very stacked against men.

When I discuss this subject here in CD most women think I hate them when they're so wrong, I'm discussing the laws and such that would affect me as a man NOT women although there's abuse of their power by the laws/biases on their side when they solely are in the wrong.

I don't disturb anyone's life/lifestyle as well not complaining, I just chose my lifestyle as things are what they are.

Marriage is meant for kids to have a stable upbringing. Contrary to popular belief, it is meant to be between a man and a women.

It doesn't make much sense for men to get married in our culture anymore. The majority of divorces are initiated by women coupled with a judicial system that favors women. There are plenty of ways to take care of their needs without implicating themselves in marriage.

Until the judicial system changes, I don't encourage it.
