Hi All - I've been thinking about adopting a dog or getting a puppy... Having a playful, social dog is high on my list.
A year old German shepherd mix is available for adoption. The playful cutie is full-grown at about 26 lbs, so he will forever look like a German shepherd with a lot of growing left to do. One of my best friends is a Vet, and I had her meet him and do temperament tests with him. She was amazed - He passed her tests with flying colors and even stayed totally calm as this stranger prodded and rubbed around his stitches. (He just got neutered.)
My question is... Guys, would you find a female with a German Shepherd approachable? Or would this turn you off?
Please don't take any kind of pet if you are bringing them into a shelter because your dates might not like them.
If I bring him home, I am aware of the commitment. This isn't my first time being a dog-owner. Knowing the commitment, I have several questions, and the potential of someone or even a family coming into my life in the future is a real possibility. This is why I had the Vet meet with him to check his temperament... There is no harm in asking questions before I make the commitment to keep him.
Men who like dogs all like a friendly German Shepherd. If a man doesn't like dogs, you shouldn't be dating him because that is a serious character flaw.
I don't know of any German Shepherd that was full-grown at 26 lbs.
That was my thought too. Maybe a mix?
Cheech and I dropped by the Vet yesterday for his monthly weigh-in.
His rate of growth is slowing down more with only a 3lb increase since Mar 3.
But he's still a 75lb dog now... at only 9 months.
