I'd say it's a terrible shame he didn't realize all that before "straying" and saving them all a lot of heartache. And I would wonder if what he was saying was true or just hogwash because he figured out the woman he cheated with wasn't real anyway so he wanted to stick with the woman who gave him everything. Who knows, his wife may have already given him MANY chances in her own mind. No one is ENTITLED to anything.

Marriage is complicated. There is a reason why one party cheat and usually the reason is unsatified sex life or lack of sex. Sexless or sex starved relationship will make a man go out cheating. It has nothing to do with faith. The very reason why the man cheated in the first place because he want to stay with the relationship (and more importantly with the children).

According to a TED talks, when a man cheats because he wants to stay in a relationship. When a woman cheats because she wants to get out of the relationship.
