About the distance thing- When I first went on the sites I thought I was only going to write back to folks who lived in my state or the surrounding ones, seemed smart enough so I did that for about a day( Hey, I got TONS of response) but then some good looking cowboy from Wyoming wrote me on my 3rd day on the site. I figured why not, so I took a chance. That was awhile ago now but I'm glad I made that decision. With airfares as cheap as they are ( or folks from WY as used to driving as they are) spending time together hasn't been much of an issue. Obviously I would only suggest this route if someone is willing to move to the other's home state. If you wouldn't be willing to move then yeah limit yourself to those very near you.
Good luck.

That site is just full of long haired poly guys!

Hmmm - vampirefreaks?
Wish I'd found that when I was single!!!
Is it free?
There's another great goth one - it's only like 10$
I think it's gothsingles or something like that...
Man the fun I would've had with THAT one if I was still single!!!

Vampirefreaks is free although you can pay for premium membership at like $20/year. Although there is really no reason to pay for premium ever since they made detailed member searches available to everyone. Of course it's mostly teens but still lots of people on there over 18. I usually go there to meet people since it's the biggest goth personals site I know of with currently 1,444,943 members and growing constantly.

I don't know what your faith/belief foundation is but I tried e-harmony and grew frustrated with it because I could not respond to any messages sent to me without paying. I kind of had an issue with the whole paying to meet someone thing.
I went to this other site called Christian Cafe. They offered a free 10 day trial during which you could use all their services for the 10 days. I liked this site and met my fiancee on it. We communicated with each other on the site and later through IM, emails and phone. I don't regret a moment of having given the site a chance. I truly feel I have been blessed in finding him and we are now planning to marry June/July of this year.
The toughest part has been the distance. It is a long distance relationship, however the distance is only 2 1/2 hours and we have been seeing each other every weekend by alternating trips. Some weekends he comes to me, other weekends I go to him. I recommend this site because my experience has been good with it.
After the 10 day free trial, the membership price doesn't seem too unreasonable.
Good luck.

Thank you.
Ohhh wow, 15 hours, I feel for you. And I complain about the time apart. It must be even harder for you both.
I know a lot of people harp on LDR's but I actually find this is the best relationship I have ever had. The time apart has really helped us to connect at such important levels like intellect, spiritual, emotional etc. without so much focus on the phsyical aspect. It has also helped give us a solid communication foundation.
I just can't wait for school to be out so that we can marry and I can relocate already. Each weekend it does get harder and harder to say goodbye. We have a cute little thing we do which is to say, "5 more sleeps until we are together again" It helps us get by as we count down our sleeps until the next visit.
I wish you the best in your relationship and hope that distance gets shorter for you soon.

Yep, I agree. The long distance aspect really makes you focus on the parts of your relationship which have nothing to do with sex or anything physical. It's hard but this relationship is just wonderful and I have no doubt it's because of the long distance. It really helps you build a solid relationship I think if both people are willing. So glad to hear it's working out for you. Must be nice to be able to count the sleeps until you see eachother again! How cute is that! With us it's more like counting down the months! Yes, the distance will get shorter, probably by the end of the year( Finally gave in and said yes to the constant "will you marry me") Anyways, good luck!!! Hope it all works out and school finishes up soon!

okaycupid.com is pretty good...you'll get a lot of nerds, but mixed in are some smart & attractive guys. The match thing is pretty much a joke...people still message you based on your photos & profile answers, haha. If you're an attractive/photogenic woman, be prepared to be flooded with messages.
I've found fastcupid.com to be okay...you can also join its network at sites like nerve.com, theonion.com, bust.com, etc.
Chemistry.com has some desperate guys. You don't even need a photo & they'll message you, haha :X

My vote is OKCupid.com
OKCupid matched me up with some of the singles in my area and after a short time, I think I have finally found my soul mate. lol

That's so odd - maybe it IS me - I am rather freaky...
Cause I don't recall many "normal" or "serious" people on OKC!!!
I HATE their matching system though!!!
I wanna search what I wanna search!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!!!
And they actually made it worse!!! Now to use their quickmatch thing you have to rate everyone.
Just retarded in my opinion...
Also about responses...
Yes if you "show" yourself which most females seem to resort to you'll get lots of responses. Duh.
Otherwise it seems like you get people who are like you who write.
And the more unique you are, the less that is.
And I wouldn't have it any other way!
Met lots of cool people - though more on POF actually...

Neither do I. I got a lot of responses from freaks, old men and weirdos on that one.
