Men are visual creatures and this is true whether they're gay or straight. It stands to reason that men attempting to attract other men will need to present the best possible visual package when wooing a potential mate. Because of this, gay men are often (though not always) more meticulous in their fashion and grooming choices. Add to the fact that gay men can have lots of platonic female friends to bounce ideas off of, and you end up with a wide chasm in taste and style.

Straight men know that when dealing with straight women, style and grooming matter only to a point. A super handsome man with average grooming and "meh" style will have more success than a well groomed, stylish ugly man. On top of that, many women aren't too keen on dating a man that's more stylish than they are. Some women want a gruff macho man. Others want a nerdy intellectual, and still others want a hard-body dude bro that only wears tank tops and sweat pants. These divergent preferences allow for men to take a similarly divergent path when deciding how to present themselves.

Yeah this is true. I can easily get attention from gay men because i'm physically attractive but straight women always go for confidence and assertiveness. Looks only really help if you have the confidence to go with it and are able to approach and pursue well. Regarding looks women are attracted to different things as well.

In the age of hipsters, dad bods, and faux lumberjacks...Are women really falling over themselves trying to get the meticulous dressers?
