Many people get married that way. Me included.
Its 21 Century - why some people still want to play Cinderella? All that circus with bridal shower, big wedding and reception just doesn't fit into the modern life. Instead of spending $$$$ on weddings most of the guests don't even remember after a week, and going into debt, people should consider some more rationale choices.
Civil marriages are just fine.

I would do it for a second marriage, but I definitely wanted a traditional wedding the first time around.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If I get married again, it'll be by Elvis in Vegas, a judge at the county courthouse or somewhere lovely and quiet with just my man and me.

Same for us. Eloped telling no one what we were going to do. It was the Mayor of the little town down the highway from us and the two ladies that worked in City hall as witness. We did go out to diner. We were on the road heading to look at property. Was perfect..

We could have easily done a JP wedding...but a ceremony presided over by our good friend and clergywoman was more meaningful to us, as was the following kickass party with our loved ones. We didn't spend a ton...a lot of it was free. But it was meaningful for us.
