I mean, timberline and I hardly ever agree on anything. SO at least you brought the two of us together today. But if we both are telling you you're wrong, you should at least consider it. hahahaha!
Not really, I'm not attacking anybody there. I even thought I gave ground a little. The reality, though, is that most of you come from a corporate/professional world where this is strictly prohibited, which, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, does color the way the issue is perceived.

Supervisors/managers dating subordinates was strictly prohibited in a freaking ice cream shop I worked with as a teen. Criminy.

I appreciate that. But you don't know what kind of workplaces we come from, so ... just stop.
FTR: my background is in independent journalism and entrepreneurship I have very little corporate experience.

Ok, I get it: Your corporate culture has made you all risk-averse. I get it. But, it's kind of sad.
If you would like to address my points instead of smarmy one-liners, we could find the difference between years of employment and relationship experience in different environments, and the those of a wide-eyed romantic.

And whether a company specifically prohibits it is rather irrelevant. Something doesn't have to be against the rules or guidelines to be an absolutely horrible idea.

I'm not being smarmy, there. I genuinely think it's sad that there are certain people out there who can't be professional and compartmentalize, so that means that two consenting adults who could do both are supposedly "off limits" to each other. Sorry, if you feel that's an attack.
