Who cares about your former friend. If she's mad or upset at you, so be it. Stand the higher ground and focus on your new lady. I'm sure your new girl isn't cool with your ex starting drama, but it's even worse when you give in and respond to your ex. Just let her be.
OP- I don't think there's a law that you have to keep the same friends forever and ever even when they no longer represent a good time. You and your lady weren't drinking, you feel relieved they don't say things in front of her, they know you don't care to hear but get excited about drama anyway. Your ex never has to meet your lady, who cares what she wants? Maybe take a break from them for a while, or expand your circle...jussayin.
My 88-year-old grandmother was a girlfriend and was fine with it. "My lady" sounds like an affectation.
And ditch the fake friends while you're at it.
I work with a lady who says: "my man". I think I'm the only one who smirks at that. Why is that more acceptable I wonder?
I say "my friend" but some act as if I'm being mysterious...but I'm not going to explain to them anything further than that...
OP- call her by name, or maybe "my lady friend" ....eh-- just call her what you feel like.

"Girlfriend" seems to work for 99.9% of the population.
And yet, some ladies or women have a problem being called girls.
