BTW... my husband would stay with me. He even took me to my last physical and waited for me in the waiting room. I did the same when he went. It's a chance to spend a little time with eachother while you are waiting! How often do you get that?

If nothing else, that's a waste of emergency resources. I'm glad you both had to wait for 4 hours for something as simple as a cold/strep - especially when she's already on medication!!

Keep in mind the I have taken my wife to the ER 3 other times in the past for non life threatening illness.

For those of you who have never been to the ER for non life threatening illness, its at least a 4 hour trip.
Pal, unless you are an actor on the movie screen,.. you'll never be a good husband. We can never measure up to a woman's unrealistic view that's warped by holly wierd.

It's just not very nice to leave the s/o alone in the ER just because you feel you have better things to do. If she's got a cold/strep, then she's not feeling very well. Maybe while she waits, you can get her a cup of tea because if she leaves the waiting area, she might lose her place in line for medical attention. Or since she's on medication already, what if the medicine is making her drowsy, she falls asleep and someone robs her?

Dumping a family member in a ER waiting room by themselves for hours is just plain unkind and inconsiderate.

If she was at the emergency room, she had to be sick enough to even go there, otherwise she could have just waited and went to a doctor elsewhere maybe? Unless you had to be at work and would have gotten in trouble at work for keeping your wife company, you should have been with her for moral support and just in case she needed you there. Did she request that you just drop her off and not stay?

People who use the ER for non-life threatening illnesses are jerks. That isn't what they are there for.

I agree! If you had to go to work or had an appointment something and it was not life threatning fine. If you were going to go home because you didn't want to miss something that was on television or something like that no good!

Now, I will say this. At the time my wife unexpectedly went into a labor, my business was struggling and I had a huge presentation with a prospect who was flying in from out of town specifically for the meeting. Seriously, you just don't know how important this meeting was.

So, my wife was all hooked up. I looked at the nurse and the OB and asked, "How long will it be." The doctor told me, "At least eight hours."

My wife looked at me and said, "Go to your meeting. Please."

So I drove down to my office, walked into the office with about five minutes to spare, and gave a great presentation. After the presentation, I got up and said to my client and his assistants, "I'm really sorry. But I've got to go." The prospect looked a bit ticked off, and I explained, "My wife's in labor."

She got a big bouquet from my brand-new client the next day.

I hope that was a joke. What would happen if you were in the ER and your wife said Oh I have to go home I want to play video games!?
