I think that, if I had to analyze the high divorce rate, I would slice up the pie as follows (judging from my friends):
25 % - sexual or emotional infidelity, deciding they wanted someone else later on
25 % - emotional immaturity, particularly for young marriages where people's personalities weren't fully developed
50% - selfishness...on many levels...generally ridiculously high or unfair expectations (non-sexual ones) not met

So, the "threesome zone" would only fall into the 25% of the pie and may not even chew up that 25%

Which 25% would you put threesomes in? As i said earlier that threesomes can only not be a problem if the relationship is solid. The threesome isn't the problem. It's the reason for it that can be the problem. If you are going into a threesome for selfish reasons it will end in disaster. If both partners are not 100% commited to each other, even letting the other partner go to a party or disco or business trip can end in disaster. Most divorces end because one or both partners have become disillusioned about the other partner.

I think the biggest problem with threesomes or any extra curricular sexual activity is diseases. In todays world things like Aids have made it dangerous to have many sexual contacts. That is the problem, not the threesome etc.

Creme - Beautifully said! That's exactly how I think. Nothing against those that would or do enjoy threesomes, but would bring me no satisfaction. I've never known anyone to have threesomes.... but then again, I doubt that most people that do this broadcast it to others?

I know quite a lot of people who do. Not that they take out full page ads in the Sunday paper, but their friends do know about it.
