In a small town, you'll likely to meet a woman that's married or has a live-in boyfriend.

There are more available singles in bigger cities than in small towns. Hell, when I came back from college, every 21 year old I knew was engaged or newly married. Usually to the person they dated in high school.

That depends on circumstance to what constitutes "available".

In the first decade of this century, I was a member of the local Sierra Club. After the meetings, they would go down to the Hula Hut and from my perspective, drink so much. Me, being one with strict codes of drinking and driving, could not participate at those levels. Here was a wonderful group of selectives and I couldn't touch a single one.

I have more memories of getting my tonic water from the bartender than I do of talking with them!

So..........it depends.

If the woman is married to a man, the pool on each side is reduced by one, so it should be a non factor.

If you don't like where you live. Move. Simple enough. I think I'm on state 7 so far? No biggie.

You mean you decided not to, not "couldn't", because of your self imposed restrictions.

That's the thing. Most people are their own worst enemies.

A "simple", funny. Well, I have a job I'm currently invested in for the long haul and a homeowner. So...the best I can do is span out my search from where I live geographically. And I'm not going to move for that reason.

So you are a non-drinker, and thus, you wouldn't date a drinker? Could you not find a group of people that didn't drink so much?

Thanks for explaining why big cities have more people than small towns.

You're criticizing Tamara for her responsible drinking behavior?

BTW I used to hike with Sierra Club too. I got a few dates out of it, but not worth it for dating considering the time and effort. ... But it was worth it for the exercise and because I like hiking and like the pretty city views from our L.A. hills.

Nobody wants to hang around with drunks except other drunks. About half the women I date don't drink liquor, but they don't mind my having 1-2 glasses of wine.

No, it is just that we didn't mix. They were off in their drinking circles and there was nothing to intermix with........and one of the reasons why I was a member was to increase my social circle.

It's not that I wouldn't date a drinker but rather it seems that if you don't drink at parties, people don't approach you.

That seems to have been one of the issues in my last relationship.....that one of 3-4 dates.

At the turn of the century at a Public Safety Diver mixer, where the beer was flowing freely, a PSD man from another state asked me why I wasn't drinking. I explained to him that I did not drink and drive, that I did not want to wake up the next morning wondering if what I did the night before was caused by party energy or alcohol. He grasped me on both arms, looked me sincerely in the eyes........and never talked to me again.
