...and is fine with it (in other words, they're not doing anything to get back to the weight they were at). Does it matter to you? Would you still be as excited about fun in the bedroom?
It would worry me and I would want to find the reasons.
When a spouse gains weight, whether because of pregnancy or due to the new lifestyle of playing house and eating starchy foods and snacks – it is easy to feel disappointed. I would wonder if it's a sign of depression (and why), the marriage is going down the hill (lost of desire, unhappiness - in a loveless marriage, people eat out of frustration), trouble at work, sign of illness, poor eating habits?
Many people when they start thinking that their partner has lost interest, instead of trying harder to get in shape or discussing what could be wrong, they start drowning their sorrow in food....
No, that's not healthy or attractive. If it were unavoidable, like medication or something, I would be more understanding.
My late husband kept putting on weight, and the thing with being with someone is you don't entirely notice HOW much weight they have put on. He had all types of excuses to not being able to exercise, and then he had a heart attack at 43.
My current husband was injured, and put on weight, but once he was healed, he took it off and got right back in shape. Again, I didn't really realize HOW much weight he put on until I was looking at old pictures.

Usually if someone gains THAT much weight, it is a sign of a health issue- either depression, a thyroid problem, a medication side effect, etc.
Yeah, it’s an emergency! Is it fluid retention? Are they going to have a heart attack? How fast did it happen?
Any other thought seems superficial.
