Let me guess...are Sparkle and Glitter unicorns? LOL

He is, smarter than you because he realizes the wisdom (or lack thereof, as the case may be) in giving a baby girl a name better suited for a stripper or prostitute.

There a waitress named Velveeta at one of our favorite restaurants. That can't be real. She is a great waitress, though!

A porn star named August Ames committed suicide in 2017. Her birth name was Mercedes. You can draw your own conclusions there.

When I hear the name Mercedes, I think of the actresses Mercedes Ruel and Mercedes McCambridge. I actually think Mercedes is pretty. I guess it comes down to your frame of reference.

I see nothing wrong with "Rose". Maybe leave the unusual names in the middle-name position. You can call the child by the name you prefer, but she may choose the more conventional name, when she gets a little older.

I vote for Rose. I wouldn't name my kid after a car (Mercedes), unless the child were Hispanic. Otherwise, why not "Cadillac", or "VW Bug"?

My ex-husband and I could not agree on a name for our daughter. Eventually, I wrote a short list of names I could live with and he chose one. (IIRC, there were 8 names on that list).

My brother and his first wife took turns naming their babies. They had 6, so each spouse named 3 children.

Since the two of you are having a baby together, you have to learn to compromise. There will likely be many parenting decisions the two of you will need to make without being in 100% agreement with each other.

Why do you say that? People give their children unusual names all the time.

I looked at all her posts. They don't seem so asinine to me. And some of them were responses to other people's posts.

Frankly, I don't how anyone can determine that she's a troll from her history. She sounds young...but so what.

IDK, OP (still there? OP??). How long is this bf likely to stick around? Maybe tell him, that if he wants a say over the baby's name, he can marry you, to get naming rights. Or is that not a good idea? Is he stable? Hard-working? No issues?
