Post When your spouse (or live-in partner) is a slob

I came across this article on CNN.

When Your Spouse is a Slob

Any thoughts on living with someone who is a neat freak or a slob (assuming you're the opposite or in the middle)? People normally associate men as being slobs and women as neat freaks. But the first 2 examples in this article are the opposite.

Everything is good in moderation! Either extreme is annoying and this applies to anything.

I'm lucky. My BF and I seem to split everything down the middle, and neither of us likes a mess, yet we aren't super obsessive either. We divide up chores really well too. I do the laundry, he irons. I cook, he cleans up, or he cooks, I clean up. I dust; he vacuums, etc. I do the bathroom, he mops, etc.

I am so glad I don't live with a slob!!

I used to be the slob, and I'm a woman. But as my husband says I'm a forever bachelor, and I'm more of "the man" anyway? I'm the breadwinner, I'm the career ladder climber and I ahte domestic stuff and cleaning and making dinner...

I'm better now, but when I was single man, my place was a junk mess. I was there only to sleep and shower then I'd be out the door

OMG, somebody irons! It's been years since I've touched an iron. Haven't even bought an ironing board since throwing out the last one. Found out it's worthless to buy clothes that need ironing as they'd be hanging in the closet. Remember in the (not so) good (in that respect) ol' days ironing for the following week every weekend... Don't miss that one bit!

I used to be the messy one, before we were married, if it were not for the cleaning lady. Now, my husband does at least half the house work, and I do my share, because its embarassing not to, when he is running around cleaning this and that. Ok, well I guess I do the cooking and he and my daughter do the cleaning. If I lived with a slob, I would just hire a maid, I would definitely refuse to clean after someone else, unless they were my child...and even then spouses should not act like our children..

And here I thought iron was something someone pumps at a gym.

I lived w/ a woman once (not a g/f) and she was a slob. I was not so neat myself, but at least I tried to be sanitary. I just had papers lying all over the place. We should've hired a maid. Then she moved out and a friend moved in as a roommate. We decided to hire a maid b/c neither of us liked to clean.

Since then, I moved and now live alone. It's a PITA to clean, esp. since my house is a lot bigger than that apt. But at least my mess is my mess to clean up. It doesn't seem so bad as opposed to leaning up someone else's mess.

LOL @ my54ford
