After a few dances with new partners, your wish to give it another shot with her will fade.

First time I've heard that one. Love it!

(I'm only going from my experience) Depending on the type of person and how long you've been with that person, after breaking things off and ending the relationship, you are still going to go through a period where you are just missing her largely because you are accustomed to having her in your life. Even if this person was toxic, you'll still miss her. You'll probably go through disappointment that the relationship didn't pan out the way you hoped. After all, there is a reason you got with her in the first place, and it wasn't because you knew she was toxic.

Given that she was a part of your life (and probably your plans as well), a chunk of your life could feel like it is missing because of the break up. And it is often jarring because it is a change. Just the familiarity of having such a person in your life can cause you to "miss her" and want her back.

Just my take on it, not necessarily true, just going by experience. These things usually go with time and processing.

Like others said, you are going to have to trust yourself on this and keep moving forward. After all, your relationship was toxic, and you don't want to go back to it.

A toxic person will always be such.

Its left a void. Also, habit. Resist the temptation. Onwards and upwards.

While that is true, I don't think that is necessarily what is going on here. Some people leaving something that is a long part of their lives are going to have an "adjustment period" so to speak where they are going to have to come to terms with what they had and do not have anymore. But they have to avoid going back to that destructive part of their lives. Some people are fooled into believing they made a bad decision because they don't like the way it feels.

It's almost like an amputation, so to speak. A part of your body has become infected with a disease that could take over your body unless it is amputated. While it does hurt, and your body has to get used to living without the body part, the last thing you want to do is reattached the amputated part.

Because it’s human nature to want to be in a relationship. You miss the companionship, sex, and good times.
