And in certain parts of NEPA, they actually START a lot of the fires...literally as well as figuratively

Funny because that's pretty much the area I was referring to! So maybe it is just this area

Yep - I've lived in a lot of places around the country and this area is a Twilight Zone unto itself.

Hah! We shall all have to have a round table discussion about this some time. I lived in Reeders (near-ish Bartonsville/also near Mt. Pocono going the other way), PA for two years. I can say that now in public because nobody can stalk me there...it was ten years ago. It was THE most beautiful place on earth. But everybody hated us because we split up their five-acre minimum and they couldn't hunt in our back yards any more. And oh good God help me but the snow. I lost a job from taking so many snow days for my kids. And we were on Rte. 80 for 13 hours the year of that huge storm (97, I think? I've blanked it out) that they closed down the highway and left thousands of people stranded in it. Not a happy thing. I had two kids with me, yikes.

Again, though...this was 10 years ago. The place has probably modernized since then!

Okay...sorry about the thread hijack there...not that this is the first on this thread, but, ya know, formalities.

Ya and we probably can't have a thread about it because it's info not 'positive' for this site(couldn't sway newcomers with any kind of honest experiences now could we?)

Yeah, I get that impression here sometimes...

Hey, I'm over in the PA / NEPA section if you guys want to vent.

It's strange so many of you complain of PA. A friend of mine moved to Pittsburgh and likes it there a lot. Of course, she lives in the heart of Pittsburgh and makes good money, so it may make a difference. I'd imagine the rural areas may not be that much fun. I'm curious to see Amish myself.

They left.

I heard they moved to NYC - "easier to remain anonymous", I think they said...
